Microsoft mengambil keputusan menghapuskan Windows Genuine Advantage kepada versi baru Internet Explorer 7. Langkah yang mengejutkan ini, akan membolehkan Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) untuk dipasang (install) dimana-mana komputer berasaskan Windows XP. (IE7 sudah sedia ada dalam Windows Vista). Jadi, pengguna Windows XP piret pon dah boleh pakai IE7 lepas ni tanpa sekatan, dimana sebelum ini hanya pengguna Windows XP sah sahaja dapat menggunakan melalui WGA.
